“Mortgage origination” can be a noun that refers to the creation of a new mortgage (or mortgages).
“Originating a mortgage” can also be a verb that means the process by which a mortgage provider completes a mortgage transaction.
Mortgage origination entails underwriting, fulfillment and closing. The professionals that manage these processes are sometimes called “mortgage originators,” examples of which include mortgage brokers, lender representatives and mortgage specialists.
